Hi there! My name is Emma, I’m 27, and currently based in Liverpool, England. I have a BA in English Literature and an MA specialising in Early Modern Literature, both from Lancaster University. (I miss it, a lot.) By day I work in academic publishing because I just don’t know how to quit you, academia.
I’m a book blogger, reader, coffee lover, unashamed fangirl, and a romantic masquerading as a cynic. I’m seemingly incapable of making frothy hot chocolate – it’s one of my greatest personal failings in life. I mostly read fiction, specifically young-adult fantasy, and my favourite authors include Neil Gaiman, Leigh Bardugo, V.E. Schwab, Samantha Shannon, Maggie Stiefvater, Matt Haig, Daphne du Maurier, Jane Austen, and good ol’ Shakespeare. I love a bit of musical theatre and my favourite musical is forever and always Les Misérables though Hamilton is really giving it a run for its money lately.
I can be found over on Twitter, Instagram and Goodreads. Likewise, any comments, queries, and/or criticism can be directed straight into my inbox at theterrorofknowingblog AT gmail DOT com.
Oh and I reckon people’s favourite quotes/lyrics say a lot about them, so here are a smattering of mine:
“The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt” (Sylvia Plath)
“For myself, for a long time… maybe I felt inauthentic or something, I felt like my voice wasn’t worth hearing, and I think everyone’s voice is worth hearing. So if you’ve got something to say, say it from the rooftops” (Tom Hiddleston)
“The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool” (As You Like It, William Shakespeare)
“Live my life in self-defence, you know I love the past ‘cause I hate suspense” (Diane Young, Vampire Weekend)
“I’m someone who’s mostly dead inside but still has a little hope for something extraordinary, which, as I said, is the worst breed of human, because it means I know everything is bullshit, but that I secretly hope for the day when it might not be.” (Nick Miller, New Girl)
Hi Emma :)
My name is Shaun and I’m an author, just wondering if you consider reviewing books, in exchange for a free ebook copy?
Here is a link to my fantasy novel (Ewan Pendle and the White Wraith) on amazon, so you can have a look and decide if it may or may not be something you would be interested in reading – http://amzn.eu/6FjYTA3
Thanks for taking the time to consider my enquiry, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Shaun
