T5W | Favourite Covers

Welcome one and all to this week’s Top 5 Wednesday post! For those of you who don’t knowΒ Top 5 WednesdayΒ is a weekly meme/challenge which was created by the wonderfulΒ Lainey from gingerreadslaineyΒ and is now overseen by the equally lovelyΒ Sam from Thoughts on Tomes. Every Wednesday, participants devise their Top 5 based on aΒ given topic.

This Wednesday’s topic isΒ Favourite Covers:Β We’ve done this topic in the past, but with so many new, beautiful covers, it is time for an update!Β

As Sam has pointed out, this has been a popular Top 5 Wednesday topic in the past and I’m sure I’ve gushed about my favourite covers countless times in the past. So, for this Top 5 Wednesday, I’ve decided to focus on more recent favourite book covers, specifically myΒ Favourite Covers from 2018 Reads. These might not necessarily be from booksΒ publishedΒ in 2018 but they’re all books IΒ readΒ this year. So, without further ado, let’s see my favourite covers…

5. The Queens of Innis Lear by Tessa Gratton
4. The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty
3. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
2. Circe by Madeline Miller
1. The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry

I don’t think I really needΒ to explain why any of these are my favourite covers from books I read in 2018 – they’re obviouslyΒ stunning. Suffice it to say, I’m a sucker for any/all of the following: foiling, spot-on typography, and intricately detailed patterns.

What are some of your favourite covers? What do you look for in a book cover? Do you have a Top 5 Wednesday post for this week? Be sure to link me below if you do!
