T5W | Characters You’d Cosplay

Welcome one and all to this week’s Top 5 Wednesday post! For those of you who don’t know Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme/challenge which was created by the wonderful Lainey from gingerreadslainey and is now overseen by the equally lovely Sam from Thoughts on Tomes. Every Wednesday, participants devise their Top 5 based on a given topic.

This Wednesday’s topic is Characters You’d Cosplayfeature some characters you’d like to cosplay as or you think would make a fun Halloween costume.

I’m not the biggest fan of Halloween, truth be told, never have been… but in my time I’ve dressed up as the requisite witch or two when I was younger. In fact, I think my Mildred Hubble costume from The Worst Witch is still lurking in my parents’ house somewhere! I can’t deny though that there are a few characters I’d love to cosplay as if I got the chance at an event or convention purely because I love their costumes.

Honourable Mention: Nina from Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

It would help if I had Nina’s kickass body, to be honest, but this is my cosplay and I’ll imagine myself as I’d like to, please and thank you. Also I’d probably get to legitimately eat a lot of waffles as part of my character and encourage others to do the same, which sounds like a win/win situation for all involved. Yes, I’m aware this is all about the food mostly so that’s why she’s an honourable mention only.

5. Kell from A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

I’m sure I don’t need to say much in explanation about how cool this would be. But in case you need just one reason to do it: think of the coat, guys!

4. Arwen from the Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

To be honest, guys, I just want to get to wear that velvet dress with the dramatic red sleeves she wears in that “dying” scene. Also if I could have a Viggo Mortensen lookalike come as my Aragorn that would be cool too, k thanks.

3. Peggy Carter from Marvel Cinematic Universe

We all know Peggy kicks ass and I would LOVE to show my support for everything she stands for as a character by dressing up as her for a cosplay. I’ve seen some amazing cosplayers who do dress as her to conventions and I’m not sure if I could pull it off but I’m more than willing to give it a shot.

2. Belle from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

Belle is probably the character I could most easily cosplay as – all I’d need is a blue dress, a white apron, and to carry around a fancy looking book. I have the book prop sorted if nothing else, and I have the naturally brown hair too to pull it off. In fact, I’m hoping to dress as Belle whilst in Disney World as I’m planning to Disneybound as her when we’re in Magical Kingdom.

1. Loki from the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Wearing green and gold and waving about a cool sceptre? Uh, yes please. It helps that Loki is one of my favourite characters played by one of my favourite people but I guess a cosplay could be a nice homage to the character he’s created in the MCU films. Plus I’d get to sweep about like I owned the place whilst wearing a ridiculous helmet, all in the name of being “in character”. Though I don’t think anyone will ever be as good as this cosplay of Loki, to be honest.

Who are the characters you’d love to cosplay? Do you have a Top 5 Wednesday post for this week? Be sure to link me below if you do!
